The VU-LFA23 antenna is a dual-band antenna for 2m and 70cm. The elements of the two interlaced yagis are perpendicular to each other, so there is only a minimal influence of the two antenna systems. In contrast to other antennas, this dual-band yagi is mounted with a boom tilted by 45°. The elements are tilted at 45° to the mast, which can also be made of metal.
FM is usually used with vertical polarization, a horizontal antenna would have up to 20 dB attenuation. SSB is usually used with horizontal polarization, a vertical antenna would have up to 20 dB attenuation.
The 45° tilt is a compromise, there is an average attenuation of only 3 dB! So this antenna is an excellent solution for radio amateurs who would like to use both FM and SSB on 2m and 70cm!
General specifications:
- Receive CW, SSB, and FM signals without having to change polarity
- Hand-built from high-quality T5 6061/6082 aluminum and stainless steel hardware
- Accepts masts up to 2.05 in. (52mm)
- Square booms increase lateral load handling and resist wind loading
- 8 elements on 2m, approx. 13 dBi gain
- 15 elements on 70cm, approx. 15 dBi gain
- Boom length 376 cm
- Weight approx. 8.5 kg
Note: Stud terminals for direct split coax feed point connections; no balun or RF connectors. One shared or two separate coaxial cable connections allowed.
